FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What does MFA add beyond a password?
MFA requires an additional verification method, making a stolen password less useful to an attacker. It reduces risk but is not a complete defense against phishing or compromised devices. Choose supported methods appropriate to the account.
Can you configure Microsoft 365 MFA?
Yes. We help with enrollment and supported account policies. Some advanced controls require particular Microsoft licenses. Review administrator access, users and recovery arrangements before changing organization-wide settings.
What if someone loses or replaces a phone?
Keep approved recovery methods and documented verification procedures. A replacement phone may need re-enrollment. Do not remove MFA merely because a caller claims to be locked out; verify identity through the agreed process.
Are authenticator apps the only option?
Supported options depend on the service and may include security keys, passkeys or authenticator apps. Availability and licensing vary. We help choose methods the account supports and the user can maintain.
Should I approve an unexpected sign-in prompt?
No. Deny a prompt you did not initiate and review the account from a trusted device. Repeated unsolicited prompts may indicate a compromised password or an attempted attack. Never share verification codes with a caller.
Can MFA setup lock staff out temporarily?
Poorly planned enrollment or missing recovery methods can interrupt access. We plan the rollout, confirm administrator recovery and help users enroll. Agree a suitable timing and support contact before enforcing changes.
